Saturday 1/5
Today is Labour Day. I went to work. We at the private sector don't stay at
home at such holidays unlike the public sector.
I spent most of yesterday evening doing the house chores. I decided not to
listen to news to avoid feeling bad?. Then I wrote a piece on our days
before the war and I didn't publish its translation on the blog. I felt
tired so I went to bed.
***********************************
This morning one of my employees asked me what I thought of the pictures of
the Iraqi prisoners and what was done to them?I told him that I don't know
anything about that...
Then I opened my email and found emails from American friends apologizing
about what happened. I still don't get it?
They said you must be mad and you didn't translate your last article because
it was cursing the Americans. My article said nothing about it?.
I called that employee and asked him: will you please tell me what
happened????
**********************************
I opened the BBC site and read?
Then the CNN site and I read?.
I closed the sites, and sank into deep thinking.
*********************
Two customers came in. They were working for the local council of some
district in Baghdad. I asked them to tell me frankly about their work, their
authorities, and their achievements?.
I want you to be frank and not to tell me some nice diplomatic replies or
cover up the truth.
They smiled and hesitated. Then they said they receive death threats daily.
I told them: that's fine, we hear about this everyday, but what did you
achieve to convince the regular citizen that you are working for his
benefit?
He said: We rehabilitated the schools at our area. (Read Raed's comment on
this:
http://raedinthemiddle.blogspot.com/2004_04_22_raedinthemiddle_archive.html
)
I said: great, what about the daily problems; the thieves and the security?
He said that that's out of his authorities, and that it's in the hands of
the Americans.
I said: get some pressure on him, tell him that you'll arrange neighborhood
watch by the citizens and reconstruct the civil society. He said that they
refuse that any Iraqi should hold any weapon and if any Iraqi was caught
holding a weapon he gets arrested. Ok, but what about the thieves? Who
arrests them and where do they go? He said: We arrest them and handle them
to the Iraqi Police and the Americans come and ask them to release the
thieves.
WHY???
He does that gesture of spreading his hands and turning the palms upwards
reflecting that things are completely out of his hands?"I don't know" he
said. Then where are your authorities? He laughed and said that he doesn't
have any. I just give notes and the Americans either approve or dismiss it.
When we argue with them they get mad and say they are holding the budget and
spending it the way they like. Where is the "spirit of sharing
responsibilities"?
There is none?.
It's their call?
************************************************
"Look sister" he said to wrap things up. "Don't bother yourself. All cards
are mixed and no one knows who the enemy is and who the friend is."
I laughed and said that that's exactly what I want to know about.
Who has interests in mixing things up like this?
They laughed and said:" listen, few days ago an Iraqi professor who had just
arrived to Baghdad told us not to argue with him and that all he wanted was
to find an American soldier on a tank so he can go and kiss his boots
because that soldier is more honorable than all Iraqis."
I said: take him to fulfill his dream and I wish the soldier steps over him,
maybe he'll wake up.
Just like how Saddam stepped over those who placed their bets on him and
worshipped him?..one day.
***************************************************
I came home burning with rage because of that dumb university professor. How
many like him are there in Iraq?
Cards are mixed.
I receive about 150 emails every week. I agree to meet with any reporter who
wants to interview me. Most reporters are Brits or Americans. But there's a
somehow universal measures most people around the world agree on no matter
what was their nationality or religions: right and wrong, beautiful and
ugly, good and evil. Then I receive an email so full of spite from an Iraqi
living abroad after he ran away from Saddam's regime. He claims that I'm
Sunni, Baathist, and a spy against the Iraqi people.
Ok?..All that at once?
My answer: I'm a Shia, I was never in the Baath party?and I really like this
spy thing..
They usually come up with large files and documents incriminating the spy
then a sick jerk like this comes and accuses me with all this to scare me?
First I was mad then I thought about it and felt sad for him. A loser who
knows nothing about me, full of spite and ignorance, and is just eager to
find someone to throw his hate at.
I think this is the mind set of a suicide bomber who is ready to kill
everyone. Because he's blind in his heart and it makes him stupid and an
easy target for those scouting for human bombs to kill the innocents. I wish
there is a medication to remove spite and evil out of people's hearts.
***********************************************
I felt disgusted and frustrated. Why do I stay here???
Why don't I leave and enjoy my time away from this shattered country?
I have an apartment in Amman where I can live like a queen and leave this
world of lies, ignorance, screams and stupidity behind my back.
I feel so tired. I feel like I'm yelling to tell the truth in a yard full of
people shouting louder than me to tell lies.
Everything is just disgusting. What's the point in staying here?? Why should
I care??
I leave the decision to God?..If He wants me to leave then I will.
I'm waiting for any sign in the next couple of days.
************************************************
I came home and asked Khalid about the Iraqi prisoners' scandal and whether
he knew about it. He said: of course, Raed and I wrote about it. Why didn't
you tell me? He said: you shouldn't watch such scenes mama.
I got madder.
I saw Khalid opening the sites to show Azzam the pictures. I stood watching
them from a distance and felt more sick. That's not important, better than
staying ignorant and uninformed.
I remembered the stories I heard about Americans torturing and mistreating
male and female prisoners and I remember myself saying that those were just
lies and exaggerations. Americans are decent and they don't do things like
that. Maybe Saddam Hussien would do such things to the Iraqi people, but not
the American army. I remembered the Iraqi professor from Germany who wants
to kiss Americans' shoes. I remembered the mortars that fell on the prison
few days ago injuring and killing prisoners? Were they connected?
I remembered the new Iraqi flag?White and blue?Colors of the Israeli flag?
Is everything happening spontaneously?
Is there someone deliberately making fun of us and spitting on our faces day
and night??
***********************************
I remembered my American friends' advice that I shouldn't be angry. I wish
they came and lived here, and have a daily life of worries and fear. Then
they would see such pictures and listen to the conflicting reports about
what's happening in Falluja and Kufa.
What would they do?
Would they cry and spend their days sad and sobbing?
Or will they be angry and spend the rest of their lives being mad??
Or will they pack their bags and leave a country that has got no more
reasons for anyone to stay in it?
Or will they stand and try defending what's right like the foolish Faiza is
doing?
What's the point??? What's the point in doing anything in a world where lies
and fabrication reign??? A world that you don't think it deserves saying
that you are part of it.
This isn't Man's world anymore. This is the world of monsters and dirt.
May it go to hell.

HI: this is mom's translations, both done by mohammed from egypt.

Friday 30/4
Today is the weekend. The day I spend locked up at home. Yet it's better
than going out in the unsafe streets, even if we died out of boredom.
Thursdays- before the war- were best days of the week. We would go out and
have dinner at a restaurant. The whole family would go and sometimes we had
guest too. We would come back home late laughing and talking about the time
we had and the way people acted that night. We would talk about the
restaurant, was it good ? clean, good service and affordable prices- or bad
and decide if we would go there again.
I remember one time we were having dinner at a fast food place. A family
with kids came in. Then their kids broke the cups on the table. The poor
waiter came to clean the mess but the kids stepped on his fingers while they
were standing on the table dancing like little monsters.
The parents were so stupid; they had a crying baby and 2 kids on the table
laughing and yelling.
The restaurant was turned into hell.
People started staring at that family and mumble, while Azzam and I burst
out laughing.
It seems its their first time in a restaurant and they don't know how to
handle things.
We finished our meal as quickly as possible and brought some sandwiches for
the boys. All the way back home we were laughing after the headache that
family gave us. They just ruined the night for everyone.
******************************************
Before the war we would go to nice restaurants by the river; light
reflecting on the surface of the water, a cold chill in the air, teens
hiring boats while laughing and shouting, families sitting to big tables and
ordering their choice of dinner; grilled meat or grilled fish the Iraqi way,
streets filled with Iraqi folk music so we know that there's a wedding and
we watch the newly weds' car decorated with flower and following them the
family and friends' cars singing and chanting?
They were beautiful days?
We had a happy corner in our lives despite Saddam's hell.
He hurt anyone who would get close to his throne or even look at it.
But there was this small corner of security Iraqi families carries on in it
its daily life.
This corner is now disappearing.
Sadness and depression are overwhelming.
Restaurants are deserted, and celebrations and wedding parties aren't held
anymore.
All we do is talk about war, Bombs and bombardment day and night.
It?s the daily boring talk.
We hope that happiness would come to our lives again. We wish that we leave
our homes safely and return safely.
They seem like distant impossible wishes.
******************************************
There's more fighting in Falloja.
Yesterday was so tiring. I left work feeling tired and wishing I could close
my eyes and then open it and find myself sitting to the lunch table with
Azzam and the boys.
I left the shop at 1:45?. I was a little bit late because there were
customers who came from distant area and I was too shy to ask them to leave
before they are done.
Usually it took, in the old days, 15 minutes to get from work to home
through the airport road.
If I went through another road that goes through residential areas it takes
10 minutes more.
But yesterday was different.
The airport road was closed?. I was confused and searched for another exit
but the traffic jam kept pushing me into roads I know nothing about. Roads I
never used and districts I don't even know their name. Every now and then
I'd stop and ask: where am I? How do I get there?
People stopped and pointed? Some had reasonable answers and others would
sink me deeper into the maze? I kept looking at my watch?. I was late and I
got distressed and confused.
After many failings I discovered that I was back to where I started 15
minutes ago.
I felt so stressed out and thought of leaving the car at a safe place and
taking a taxi home?
But we're in the middle of traffic jam? Where is the taxi? What will it do?
Does it have wings?
It won't do much better than me.
Finally I reached a familiar street. I stopped near a small grocery store,
and there was an old man standing there? I opened the window and asked him
how I get to my place.
He approached me smiling and said in a tender voice as if he was my father:
Don't worry my daughter, calm down and listen to me?.He was talking and
pointing and I was listening and I was totally convinced of what he said.
Before I leave I turned and waved to him and he waved back smiling
encouragingly. It was a cloudy dusty day and the cars were moving fast and
nobody cares about other people or stops to listen to their questions.
I felt so lonely. That old man reminded me of my father and mother, may they
rest in peace.
Life is so hard without them. Even if I am old and have boys in their 20's,
there's still this little girl inside me who always misses them.
I was home after an hour in the maze.
I don't know the reason; maybe there was a bomb at the airport road.
Boring endless daily stories?.
***********************************
I went to bed early because it was such a tiresome day. I was awaken by the
sound of a fighter jet that was flying too near like it was going to bomb a
near target. It kept circling around. I left the bed to drink some water.
Majid was awake and it was 1 AM. I asked him why that is. And he said that
he couldn't sleep because of the plane. I said maybe it was bombing Falluja
and it turns over Baghdad to return to them. I felt sad and wished that this
hard time is over soon.
We all want peace and we don't know who wants this fighting to go on like
this shattering our lives and dreams.
*************************************
In the morning we herd near explosion and sporadic gunshots. I don't know
what's happening. We stayed at home and didn't leave to anywhere. I miss
visiting my sisters, friends, and relatives. I miss having tea with them,
laughing, and talking about our kids, husbands, dresses, models, hair dyes,
hair dressers, and all other trivia.
I miss shopping and buying new clothes and shoes. I'm not in the mood for
that and where I'm going to wear it? There are no visits or occasions. I
have enough work outfits.
My memory is infected with vicious viruses.
I was an example of perfect memory. The boys would always laugh and ask me
how could you mama remember all these tiny details??
At the shop I used to astonish the customers when I'd remember for instance
a customer who visited the shop months ago. And they'd say: Masha Allah Um
Raed! How can u remember!
But now the customer enters the shop smiling and asks me: so what happened?
And I'd stand there staring at him like an idiot and ask him: pardon me, who
are you?
He'd say: Allah Akbar Um Raed! What's wrong with you! I was here yesterday
and I said I'd come tomorrow.
I laugh and feel ashamed. Sorry, I forgot. He'd say: no problem, we are all
dizzy now.
That's true. We are all dizzy. Poor Iraqi people Struck by Saddam Hussien
then by the occupation and the explosions, the tanks and the helicopters.
I keep wondering: is there really people who live quietly and peacefully,
laughing and joking, and going out to clubs and picnics?
God! I can hardly believe it?. I feel we hit the rock bottom and only God
knows when we will climb out?
************************************
Its 9 PM now?
I hear the rain?.
Lightening is lighting up dark streets?.
Rain is washing everything?
Trees and pavements and houses?.
I hope it washes people's hearts from evil and spite.
And so peace would reign over the world?
The whole world?

Good morning...
my last blog, was talking about our old beautiful days, before war...
and I`m waiting to put the translation of it...
but the bad news about Iraqi presoners....
I didn`t write about them yet...
yes, it was bad, sad, disgusting news...
and yes, it had poisned my day....

*******

Today I noticed that you wrote only in Arabic on your blog. Probably you have some hate and venom to spew against what was learned about the prison cruelties. I don't blame you at all; but if this is why you didn't post to English translation, don't worry about it. You have every right to be angry.
The photo's and news made me sick to my stomach and made me cry. The army of this country I'm afraid, is filled with ppl from low life upbringing, or no upbringing at all. This country is not a moral one as you know, on the whole.
It amazes me when I see that this is the way it is here, and I see it everyday. And I am still shocked by it.
I don't even watch the immoral commercials we have on TV, nor the immoral shows. Peoples' minds here are being taken over by the things they watch and feed their minds on.
When I was growing up, I couldn't even imagine being sexually immoral, so I wasn't, neither were my children. But too many ppl here do not have respect for others, for God, and for what' s decent. Please forgive their sickness, and do not let it poison you and your good heart.
with love and care, janice

28/4/2004

Good Morning….

Yesterday was a difficult, sad day. I was depressed throughout the day and tears were falling….And then I was becoming embarrassed, that people would see me….
So I’d wipe them away and pretend that everything’s ok. And during the evening a friend from Michigan called...

. And we spoke for the first time on the telephone. Our feelings were mixed with joy to hear each others voices, and sadness, over what is happening in Iraq. And the end of the phone call I told her: This is an ironic fate, to have our sadness come from America, and those who we love and who love us are from America itself…we laughed and agreed to send a letter to Bush, a thank you letter. Because he was the reason we got to know each other. This is the shining side of this ugly war, that gathered hearts believing in the same principles of love and peace, and want to defend that, to remain a link. A strong link between people, whoever they are.

And yesterday I received a beautiful letter from another friend in Boston, that made me cry. I put parts of it here on the site, and I almost couldn’t believe, I used to think that people’s hearts had died over there, but they surprise me.
***********

This morning I opened the mail, and found it full of beautiful letters, from all over the world. I thanked God, and it increased my faith in Him, and my faith in the principle that says that we are all the children of God. This is what my friend in Boston always says, and I smile and nod my head in agreement. And I remember the worlds of our gracious Prophet, Mohammad, peace be upon him: Creation is the children of God, and the ones he loves the most are those most merciful to his children.
*******
In the evening I again asked myself the reasons for this sadness that covered me throughout the day. I remembered that yesterday evening I went to see the neighbors, who had fled from the fighting in Falluja. I thought to meet them and listen to what they are saying, and write it here. I realized that the profession of journalism needs a tough heart to listen to tragic stories - and then smile and write them in a calm way, to write the truth. And if you want to lie, nobody will know, except perhaps after a long time maybe. I remembered that for this reason I refused to study medicine, and chose engineering, because it is not related to feelings. Medicine has a lot of pain, and I didn’t want to return living a life of pain, and lose sensitivity with the passing of time and have my heart die - as it happens to most people who practice that profession. The small, small minority who keep their feelings alive remain facing daily torture, to keep their humanity while not allowing it defeat the harshness of every day life.

*********

A question from Caesar in the interview for USA Today: Why are there Iraqi bloggers who support America and Israel?

I laughed and said maybe it’s a question of age and little experience in life that makes the young mistake a friend from an enemy. And perhaps because they didn’t see any life except under Saddam, and so anybody else is acceptable.

But I yesterday met a person who surprised me with his openness. He said:

“I used to work as a general in security in the Palace, in the engineering section. We were once changing the glass of the car windows, from normal glass to bullet proof glass. Qusay [Saddam’s son] came past with his attendants. He stopped and said: Why are you late in your work?

One of the engineers said: Don’t you want the work to be good?

Qusay became angry at him and didn’t respond. After that, the engineer disappeared, and we heard that he was in the al-Shub’a al-Khamisa. They beat him and tortured him because he was brave enough to answer Qusay.

And now I can take you to his house for you to see him. He has schizophrenia and is destroyed after what happened to him, Umm Raed. I swear by God, I wished that the Americans and the Israelis would come to ask me to be a spy against Iraq. I would have done so much from that hatred within me
Yes….that is how some people think in response. Like a man whose wife cheats on him, so he becomes hateful to all women and wishes for their deaths. This is an immature response, and thank God that the majority do not think in this way. My response was to this story:

We took off an awful coat….and we have put on one just as bad as well

Both are not appropriate

Both are hurting Iraqis
********

I return to those from Falluja, and their stories that I heard from them. What will change if you listen or not? I don’t know. But if only for the trust invested in me, I will relate to you the picture. Perhaps it will provide you with some useful information, for those who haven’t heard

There were many families in that house, and all of them related – cousins, and their children. Two of them left their husbands there, because they heard that men were not allowed to leave.

So they left with their children, walking from nine 9 in the morning, and reached their relatives house at three in the afternoon, in Baghdad. The dust covered their children while they cried and screamed. The women’s eyes were wide open from shock, and often the words wouldn’t leave their throats.

We don’t know if we will return home.

Will we find our husbands still alive?

We feel embarrassed because we are guests in other people’s houses and we didn’t bring with us even a dinar, because of the shock and fright.

We left with the clothes on our backs. Every day we wash the clothes of the children and make them wear it again.

We wish to return or find somebody to send to us our things from our houses.

Every day there is contradictory news about families returning. Nobody is brave enough to return to the fighting.

The fighting stops and starts.

Some of the families here don’t have relatives, so they are living in tents and people bring them donations of food and medicine.
*********

One of them was quite a young-looking woman in the black of widows, her husband died six years ago. She has seven children, between seven and seventeen. She lived with them in a residential apartment on the outskirts of Falluja, for government employees, where her husband used to work. She lives with her children on the retirement salary paid to their father. She said:

We left after the fighting became very heavy after a few days. My husband’s brother came and took us into his car to one of the villages around Falluja, called the area of Zuba’. We remained there for a week, and then we went to Baghdad. On the first day when the coalition forces entered the city, they announced over loudspeakers, that schools and shops were closed, curfew: that it would be absolutely forbidden to leave one’s home from seven in the morning.

On the second day, the fighting began in the area. We didn’t leave the house. We didn’t know what was happening on the streets. The children gathered around me and they were shaking. And putting their hands over their hears so as not to listen to the sounds of plans and falling missiles. We didn’t dare leave the room to go to the kitchen to bring bread or food. They cut off the water and the electricity at our place. The assault was terrifying, day and night. The windows were smashed and the house was filled with smoke. We don’t’ know from where the smoke came. The children were crying and screaming and I was crying with them. We were all shaking. I told myself:

This is the end of the day of resurrection

The world has ended

We could see the American forces digging trenches close to our house. We were on a flat on the third floor. And at 12:00 pm exactly they would receive their lunch. We would watch them in the evening when they would receive their dinner at 6:00pm.

I didn’t have a fridge to hold food for the children. There was stale bread, and water. I used to buy my things from the market daily. I didn’t have anything stored. From fright I couldn’t make dough or bake bread for them from the remains of flour.

Our days were terrifying. I was reading verses from the Quran and saying that we would die – me and the children, here, and nobody would know.

And then after a few days somebody knocked on the door. One of my husbands relatives came and told us to leave quickly: We have a car.

We went down the stairs quickly without thinking. We didn’t take anything with us. No ID cards, no clothing. Just the clothes we were wearing. One of my little girls, Nada, went down running barefoot. I forgot to give her something to wear on her feet.

We saw the corpses in the streets Umm Raed. I sight I can’t forget all my life. No, they were not corpses, they were hands and legs scattered, filling the streets, scattered things. Human flesh scattered. Some of it sticking to the walls of houses. Flying flesh and sticking to the walls of houses.

*******

The day of resurrection, I told myself all the way. There was fighting around us with missiles, hitting the streets, and people running, people inside trucks. Men and women, running away from hell. Every one of them was just thinking of their own life without thinking of anybody else. The smell of death penetrated every place. I couldn’t believe we were still alive.

Thank God. My children are ok. That’s enough.

My children went after a week to get our IDs and clothes, but the neighbors turned them away. They said that the American forces were in the building and broke the locks and entered. Don’t come close, they will shoot at you.

**********

Did you see Mujahideen?

I asked her

And who was shooting at the American forces?
She said she didn’t know the answer because she didn’t leave the house. And she didn’t know who was shooting. Perhaps men from Falluja themselves. Defending their houses and their women. Everybody who left their house was shot at by snipers and we heard of an old man who went outside his house so a soldier killed him while he was standing outside his house. So his son killed the soldier in anger because he killed his elderly father. Then the soldier’s comrades killed that man. The neighbors say they buried them side by side in the house’s garden. I keep thinkning that if we were all inside our house, and azzam went outside to get something and a soldier killed him standing in front of the door. Who will prevent my children from carrying arms and revenging their father
It’s an impossible task

Who gives orders?

Who is implementing?

And who is debating?

Is killing the language of communication between men?

When was killing the language of communication between humans?

Even animals don’t do that to each other.

So what’s happening to humans…the master of creature …the creator of civilizations.

And who has the answer?

Tuesday 27/4

Good morning..
All news are depressing. Nothing is promising. Falloja is still on fire.
Things at Alnajaf threatens that it might be a new front, so we could be
even more happy! I feel hopeless and defeated.
Someone wants to destroy us, and he's making a very good job at it.
The whole world stands watching us.
Hearts and minds are confused wondering what is really going on???
We too, with open mouths and popped out eyes, are wondering: for God's sake
tell us what is really going on???
**************************
Did someone plan to make Iraq the battlefield for the war between terrorists
and their enemies??
Were ignoring borders' security and the state of lawlessness a planned thing
to draw America's enemies into Iraq where they can be fought?
When did the battlefield became Iraq instead of the US?
Iraq instead of Afghanistan?
what did We- innocent civilians- do?
Who cares about us?
Who defends us?
We go to our work and schools accompanied with fear and come back with it..
We hear explosions and the choppers flying day and night, and the fighter
planes flying at night.
I don't know what for!
Maybe they bomb Falloja and then fly back to Baghdad?
We don't understand anything anymore.
We want peace and security.
We want this insanity to stop...
Who holds the power to make it stop?
Who holds the power???
*****************************
Newspapers, radio stations and satellite channels keeps presing on our
nerves. Maybe in The rest of the world they're getting bored of listening to
our news. They'll start looking for less enraging and disgusting topics..
I don't blame them.
Human beings are weak creatures with low threshold when it comes to
listening to painful and irritating news.
The world will get bored and stops listening.
The ones who planned for all this devastation will go on with their plans
uninterrupted.
Will they win??
I don't know.
If we were negative and weak, then they'll win.
That's the way it is.
people keep their heads low because they are afraid and they want peace of
mind.
But what about us? What's left of our lives?
What do we bet on?
People die for trivial reasons and our eyes are filled with tears and our
hearts are torn apart by sorrow.
The same hearts which dreamt of peace, love and happiness- like any other
heart- heart which dreamt of happy moments with our loved ones, where we
laugh and talk to them and dream of a beautiful future.
We are no longer one of people with such hearts.
We don't belong to them any more.
Sadness lives with us and we don't know who is our friend and who is our
enemy anymore.
Life became a trivial matter like a cheap movie that you wouldn't want to
watch even if you got a free ticket.
That's Iraqis' everyday life.
Who cares about them or about their daily problems?
Who will volunteer to defend them and stop this daily destruction?
I don't think anybody wants to do that...
I don't think anybody can do that..
God now controls everything, and does what he wants.
and we have nothing to do except to be patient and wait.
************************
USA Today reporter visited us few days ago.
We talked about this site, when we started to blog and why.
Then I called the women and chidren from Falloja who were staying with their
relatives next door so he would interview them.
The fighting at Falloja was very intense at that time.
Then the article was published (
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-04-20-bloggers_x.htm ). It was
tasteless and meaningless and he didn't write a word about the Falloja
residents he met.
What exactly happened to César the reporter? I don't know...
But I can picture him apologizing and saying this is the way our media is,
sorry I couldn't write about them.
Thank you César.I understand what happened. You always show half of the
truth.
********************
This is what I think would happen to the CNN reporter.
He won't air the film or he'll edit it so -again- it'll be meaningless,
empty and trivial.
I look at the USA, the land of freedom and democracy from Baghdad, the land
of destruction, devastation and sadness, and I smile bitterly and wonder
about the meaning of such words: freedom and democracy.
Or what's left of them.

Good morning...
this is a small part from an American friend email...
I received it this morning...
It made me cry...

I want the war to stop soon, so I can mail you things, and not worry that
you will not receive them :(
I want the war to stop soon, so that you no longer have worries any more
serious than any other person on Earth.
I want the war to stop soon, so that no more mothers will have any sons and
daughters to mourn.
I want the war to stop soon, so that only the clear rain wets the Iraqi
soil, instead of the red blood.
I want the war to stop soon.

25/4 Sunday

Good Morning

Everybody is asking to listen to the news…Nobody wants to listen to politics

Good…And who said that those in Baghdad know and understands what is going on - more than those out of the country?
******

All the newspapers are playing the same music. The truth is, that it’s not music, in the romantic sense, relaxing ones nerves. These newspapers and its news destroy nerves. Before you finish two pages, you feel like you want to stop reading…and maybe that’s what should be done. Because there’s nothing to be understood - that’s what’s happening exactly. Everything is topsy-turvy - and it’s terminology as well.
******

Those facing assault and death in Falluja, the newspapers call them rebels, or gunmen, or betrayers. And you in Baghdad know that those people are facing a military operation, ‘the sorting out of accounts’ - and revenge….

But the world doesn’t understand what’s happening….Yesterday the CNN correspondent came. I suggested to him that I call the women and children
from our neighbour , those who were living in Falluja , he said, he couldn’t have a meeting with them. People won’t believe me there…..They will say those from the streets are liars.

The response is depressing. What world are we living in? The truthful one is accused…the liar says what he wants…and everybody believes him. Papers and votes have been mixed. And lying voices are stronger and louder. But our faith in God doesn’t shake. He will expose this lie in his own way….And will do more magic than the magician.

*******…

These explosions targeting civilians. Explosive-laden cars in Basra kill passersby in the streets and the children going to schools. And rockets fall on the popular market places in Sadr City…and kills children and women. And Hawn rockets on the Abu Ghraib prison kills prisoners and injures them….Everyone wants to say, this is what Iraqis do to each other….And only the ignorant believe. And photos of prisoners…and trucks laden with explosives on checkpoints….
********

The joke of the day….They found a car filled with explosives in Basra after the bloody explosions. And the owner said he came from Falluja to blow it up in Basra. What’s the distance between Falluja and Basra ??

The owner traveled around 600 kilometers in an explosives-laden car to kill innocent Iraqis? Is this is a logical story? We have a saying: When a crazy person speaks, a sane person should listen. As in: Think according to the logic of the story. Why didn’t he blow it up on an American checkpoint, for instance?

And how did he leave surrounded Falluja in the first place? And why didn’t he use all of that there? Silly stories filling the newspapers and creating anger.

Who are they kidding?
******

And a unit from the Iraqi army refused to fight against the people of Falluja. And the occupation says there’ll be a new power from Iraqi volunteers to fight against the people of Falluja. And we ask: Iraqi betrayers? Will they kill their brothers and get paid money?

**********

And the Iraqi governing council was criticized by Bremmer. And news of their inability to stay in power in the upcoming period because they don’t represent the people. And Baathists will return to their jobs, especially university lectures. And the IGC member responsible for kicking out the Baathists is furious over this decision.

And news of the US administration’s anger at him, because he takes a salary of 340,000 dollars a month…..And gave them incorrect information….so let the information go to hell. Iraqi people wonder about homeless….and have nothing to put on the table for lunch…or dinner…And a member of the Governing Council takes that much pay????

Should we laugh or cry????

******

oh ....Iraqis!

You don’t have anything but patience

For the time…for every mask to fall….so we can discover these lies, and for the truth to become apparent. And let this black magic backfire.

And laugh a lot

I mean those who are still alive…will laugh….

Congratulations to them

******

This is our daily news....
so ,why you are going to spoil your day ????
