Good morning…
I discovered, and became sure that the most ridiculous and tiring thing in this world is the profession of Politics, and that the people who work in this profession are the most subject to corruption, hypocrisy, and lies…
I mean, in the beginning they might be honest, enthusiastic, and have a certain vision, but by the passage of time, they start giving up these ambitions little by little, and most of them would slip into mazes so far from their beginnings, and move into an opportunist state which they call-Realistic, which means- giving concessions, and performing the arts of tricks and evasion in order to remain in the field, and thus turning into the mentality of a merchant; who keeps evading and using everything to survive, even though he became broke, and Goodbye to clean principals and transparency, for those are for the joy of the naïve and idealists, as for those who became Experts, they have turned into sharks that kill and swallow whoever gets near them…
This seems to be the situation of people in this world, every time, everywhere…
But I do exclude the leaders, like the Prophets, all of them, for they have carried the Message of GOD, delivered the charge, and were faithful until the end… and some leaders of other nations, like Gandhi, Nehru, and Martin Luther King, for those also died while still delivering the message, before corruption or weariness…
But where are we today?
And what do the leaders of the world today look like?
****************************
Is Bush a model of the leader who deserves to be followed by humanity?
And is this the Globalization that would achieve the unity of people's feelings, regardless of the differences in religions, races, and ethnics?
Of course not…
This Globalization entered a country like Iraq and tore it apart, making yesterday's brothers fight, open the old-hate files, and spread the spirit of revenge and the philosophy of segregation: This is yours, and this is mine, in land, and wealth…
Even though the tools of Globalization entered Iraq after the war: Mobile phones, Satellite dishes, the Internet…
So, this means it is a Globalization of commerce and Markets….
But where is the happiness we dreamt about??
Didn’t the western media shout and clang the drums that the Iraqi State had a retard, inclusive regime, which interfered in everything; big and small, that didn’t allow general freedoms, or any contacts with the world…
Very well; here are the different newspapers, magazines, and space channels filling Iraq, and most people have satellites in their houses, along with Mobile phones and the Internet…
But where is the comfort and happiness?
It isn’t just the matter of explosions and the security deterioration; but rather a case of a gate which was opened, and a bulldozer got in, which destroyed everything in the lives of the Iraqis; destroyed their unity, ripped apart their identity, and shaken the constants in their lives, which became now a source of silly debate, like:
Are we Arabs or Kurds?
Are we Sunnies or Shia’ats?
Shall we live united, or change to territories?
Are we, or are we not, a part of the Arab, Islamic world?
By GOD, what is happening in Iraq is a painful thing, and we there are paying the price of stupid policies, led by selfish, hard- hearted leaders who have their interests, and do not care for the losses of the Iraqi people; either in souls, or the psychological calmness of every citizen…
You know; I received a letter by e-mail from a Doctor in the Architectural Dept., who is a Christian, and she used to be the teacher of my son, Raed, in Baghdad University, she sent me a reply after I congratulated her for the New Year…
Her letter was full of sadness, saying that what is happening in Iraq since the war till now pushed us apart from our happy, quiet past days, as if they have passed since 20 years…
And by GOD, her sentence made me stop for a long while…
True, the destruction that befell Iraq, the loss and sadness in people’s hearts, didn’t befall them in the 8 years of war with Iran, or the 13 years of the unjust embargo…
Until Baghdad fell, the morals of people were strong and holding; dreaming of a better tomorrow that will come one day, which will be made by the Iraqis themselves, one day after Saddam would be gone… but not of this stupid war, that didn’t only destroy buildings and made holes in the streets, but destroyed and drilled into the souls of the Iraqis pains and sorrows they haven’t seen before….
Be my guest, walk the streets of Baghdad or other Iraqi cities, ask the people about their daily lives, and what they have lost because of this war, and what have they gained from it, about the coming future, and how much they are optimistic about it, especially with the Bush administration on, which keeps pushing its malicious fingers into everything, making it turn into a true ruin….
This is our experience since March 2003, till now…
And do not be fooled by the false stories of success that the pre-paid channels keep playing, channels like Al-Hurra, CNN, Fox, or the others, for those are just jugglers and clowns who are celebrating a winning, a false victory in the war on Iraq, while the truth is there; in the houses of the Iraqis, in their streets, and towns…
A clear, ugly, sad truth, but who dares to send it to President Bush?
He needs, and listens only to that who claps for him, but isn’t ready to listen to the opposing viewpoint, and doesn’t tell himself- perhaps there is some truth in it, let me listen.
And by GOD, that was the same disease that befell Mr. President Saddam Hussein, until he fell into the pit, because he wasn’t ready to listen to the opposing viewpoint, against the elusions that were going on in his mind.
And so were Hitler and Mussolini…
That’s why I see that Mr. President Bush is moving on their steps, and there is a pit waiting there to swallow him, just like what happened to the past tyrants.
Shall we be sad for him, and pity his destiny?
Or do we say angrily: let him go to hell?
This is a matter of consideration….
